A new experience abroad: Mariano Soso will direct O’Higgins from Chile

The 2021 season of the Chilean League ended last weekend and the clubs are beginning to plan the details for the next campaign. In that sense, O’Higgins de Rancagua finally chose the right coach for his interests: they announced the hiring of the Argentine Mariano soso.

The ‘Celeste’ went through many complications throughout this year and were even immersed in the relegation zone, from which they managed to escape in recent days. Given this, the board decided to end the relationship with Miguel Ramírez and look for another technician, who can change the course of the institution.

That is how Mariano Soso appeared as the best option, since he has experience and because he has managed to sustain an idea of the game in each of the clubs he directed. As revealed by the Chilean press, the O’Higgins leadership convinced the strategist with an attractive project.

It is worth mentioning that this will be the coach’s first experience in the Chilean league, although in the past he was in the sights of other institutions in the same country. Universidad Católica and the U. de Chile were interested in having the services of the Argentine, but the conversations between the parties did not prosper.

What teams did Mariano Soso lead?

Mariano Soso debuted as the main DT in Peruvian football, when he assumed command of Real Garcilaso (now Cusco FC) in 2015. In technical terms, he stood out with his work in the Cusco team and for 2016 he reached the bench of Sporting Cristal, where he established himself champion, being the highest achievement so far in his career.

However, he only spent a year with the Rimenses and only returned to direct in mid-2017: he put on the Argentina Gymnastics diver, where he did not last long. Then, in May 2018, he arrived at Emelec from Ecuador, where he closed a good season, but the results did not accompany him with Defensa y Justicia (2019) and San Lorenzo (2020) from his country. This 2022, he will seek his revenge in O’Higgins.
