Coffee tip: Colombia tied 1-1 with Paraguay for Qatar 2022 Qualifiers

Colombia tied 1-1 against Paraguay on the date 6 o’clock Qatar 2022 Qualifying. The goals were from Sanabria (Paraguay) and Cuadrado (Colombia), in a game in which Reinaldo Rueda’s team was closer to second, but added their second point on this triple date.

An intense match with a Colombia that presented a different line-up for this duel for what had been presented with Rueda. Two fast men on the wings like Sinisterra and Cuadrado who were the ones who tried the most and demanded the Paraguayan defense.

Paraguay was complicated with the game and appealed to what they know, to counterattack and fight in the area against the Colombian defenders who, above all, Dávinson Sánchez was the one who made the most mistakes and, in fact, was compromised in the goal after not mark Romero on the left and it was Sanabria who scored the first.

Colombia was bothered by the strong play of the Guarani, who had problems with Barrios and was almost sent off in a fight with Romero, which ended with VAR intervention and a yellow card for both. Thus concluded the first part for both teams.

Already in the second half, Colombia found the advantage with a hand from Alderete that had VAR intervention and the referee decreed a penalty. The person in charge of executing was Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, who scored the final tie in the match.

Reinaldo Rueda refreshed Colombia’s attack with the entry of Falcao and Roger Martínez for Borré and Borja, who gave him a little more arrival down the flanks and dynamism in attack. The tricolor was incisive playing by opening the field and complicated Silva who was one of the figures of the game avoiding goals in his goal.

Paraguay looked for him with quick starts from their area and looked with their forwards, but they did not clearly define the options they had. Already in the last minutes, Díaz entered the field and generated danger on the left, but he was not clear in his centers throughout the last part.

The match ended with Colombia focused on attack and Paraguay defending with their men. The tricolor looked for him, but finally could not increase the score and ended with a point that messes up the accounts, although he continues to add in the Qualifiers.

Colombia landed during the early hours of last Friday at the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in Luque and went to their concentration hotel. So far no player is known to have suffered physical problems. You would all be in good condition to start this Sunday’s match.

When it was speculated that there would not be much variation for the match against Bolivia, Reinaldo Rueda surprised and sent soccer players like Juan Fernando Quintero and Roger Martínez onto the field, the first of them to preserve the ball. They are his trusted men.

To face Paraguay, it is not ruled out that Anrés Llinás will be in the game to rest Daniel Muñoz, starter in La Paz. This is an atypical day of three games and the coach is aware of it.

Yairo Moreno could be another surprise. William Tesillo was the left back against the Bolivians and he would also be on the list of players who need a few more days without football.

Gustavo Cuéllar would be in charge of pulling the strings in midfield. Matheus Uribe did not show the best version of himself against the ‘green’. In the attack, the only point of reference in the area would be Miguel Borja, who would replace Martínez.

Rueda, so far, has a good run against Paraguay. They are positive numbers, three wins, two draws and only one loss in six games. The most remembered match was Ecuador’s 4-1 win in Quito for Qualifiers. That day the great figures were Jefferson Montero and Felipe Caicedo.

In the Defensores del Chaco, the 64-year-old DT has a victory and a defeat. Next Sunday’s meeting will be the third in Asunción. Adding is a priority for the Colombian National Team.

How does Paraguay arrive?

Paraguay arrives at the match against Colombia after failing to beat Ecuador in Quito (2-0). Eduardo Berizzo’s team has little room to adjust. The coach should wake up the group that is not very excited.

Alberto Espínola and Santiago Arzamendia were injured in the match against Tricolor and, as revealed by ‘ABC Color’, they are ruled out for the match against Reinaldo Rueda’s men. To these casualties is added that of Junior Alonso, who was reprimanded on Thursday night and must pay a suspension date.

The Guarani recover Gustavo Gómez and Omar Alderete, who have already completed the day of suspension. A possible novelty is that of Ángel Cardozo, which could be taken into account.

After seven games played, Colombia is fifth with nine points; Paraguay is in the sixth box with two units less.
