Defined quotas: these will be the Colombian clubs in the Copa Libertadores 2022

Although the second finalist of the Clausura 2021 of the BetPlay League –The only one who secured his pass a week ago was Deportivo Cali–, Conmebol confirmed, after the 1-1 draw between Junior de Barranquilla and National Athletic, to teams classified to the Libertadores Cup 2022. In this way, Colombian football already has its representatives for the maximum club tournament in this part of the world.

In this way, Deportes Tolima, Atlético Nacional, Deportivo Cali and Millonarios will be the coffee teams in next year’s edition of the Libertadores. The first two for having been champions in the Apertura and the Colombia Cup, respectively, and the remaining two for reclassification.

Although Junior from Barranquilla had minimal chances of classifying via Revalidation. the draw against those led by Alejandro Restrepo did not allow them to take a place. This confirms the shaky level of the ‘Jaws’ throughout the 2021 season.

On the other hand, the quotas for the South American Cup 2022 were for the same Junior, América de Cali, La Equidad and Independiente Medellín. All these clubs were in a good position in the Reclassification.

Junior and Nacional did not pass the tie in Barranquilla

Junior from Barranquilla drew 1-1 with Atlético Nacional at the Metropolitan Stadium for the sixth date of the semifinal homers of the Clausura 2021 of the BetPlay League. The duel was very even and boring at times, where both teams no longer had a chance to get to the grand final. Cetre and Barrera scored the goals.

In the first half, Junior had control of the ball, but Nacional was the team that had the necessary effectiveness to open the scoring. The ‘purslane’ scored in the 8th minute. After a cross from a corner kick, Jarlan Barrera controlled the ball inside the area, turned around to get a left-handed shot, which hit Fredy Hinestroza to misplace Sebastián Viera and get to the bottom of the net.

In the 66th minute, Atlético Nacional was left with one player less, after Danovis Banguero was sent off, after referee Carlos Betancur was warned by an iron to Edwuin Cetré. Junior achieved the equalizer in the 90th minute. Carlos Betancur was called by the VAR for an alleged penalty by defender Emanuel Olivera on Germán Mera, for which he sanctioned an infraction. Edwuin Cetré was in charge of executing and converting the penalty to sentence it 1-1. With this level, Junior finished the group with seven points, while Nacional with six.
