Samuel Eto’o He was elected as the new president of the Cameroonian Football Federation after defeating his opponent Seidou Mbombo Njoya, who until today was the president. The former player of the Barcelona defeated his rival by a margin of 12 votes (43 to 31).
After his victory, the legend of the African team spoke on Twitter and assured that he will not disappoint the country. “I will remember today as one of the proudest moments of my life. I am deeply grateful to have been elected the new president of the Cameroon Football Federation “, he pointed.
“Each vote represents the energy and ambition of our soccer family to take our beloved sport to a level that we have never seen before. Let’s get to work ”, he stated. In addition, he received the congratulations of thousands of his followers and compatriots.
As it is recalled, the former striker had supported Mbombo Njoya when he won the 2018 elections. However, he later criticized him because at first his proposals seemed promising, but had not met “expectations”.
Samuel Eto’o hopes to build a new future in football in his country and obtain more achievements in his role as president. It is important to mention that the ‘Indomitable Lion’ twice won the African Cup of Nations (2000 and 2002) and one edition of the Olympic Games (2000) with his country. In addition, he participated in four editions of the Soccer World Cup.
