Supported by eight from the subsidiary: Barcelona announced players called up for a match against Mallorca

The plague of casualties FC Barcelona forced Xavi Hernandez to look at the subsidiary team to complete their list of summoned for the duel against Majorca. Thus, the coach summoned up to eight Barça B players and reached 21 elements, the same ones that will be part of the trip to Palma de Mallorca.

Frenkie de Jong, Luuk de Jong, Gerard Piqué, Ronald Araujo, Marc-André ter Stegen, Eric Garcia, Neto, Oscar Mingueza and Riqui Puig were fixed. They were joined by Samuel Umititi and Clement Lenglet, who recently recovered from COVID-19 and were considered.

Nico and Iñaki Peña, regularly mentioned, are also part of the call. The roster is completed by Ferran Jutglá, Illias Akhomach, Álvaro Sanz, Arnau Comas, Mika Mármol, Guillem Jaime, Lucas de Vega and Estanis Pedrola. It will be the first time that these last eight are available and some of them could, why not, make their debut.

Absences at FC Barcelona are due to health reasons. Sergiño Dest, Ousmane Dembélé, Philippe Coutinho, Abde, Balde and Jordi Alba are out due to COVID-19 and Sergi Roberto, Pedri, Ansu, Memphis, Braithwaite, due to injury, and Sergio Busquets and Gavi, due to sanction.

“We will prepare the game to win, but we are very few. We are Barcelona and any game we go out to win, but of course the situation worries me. That the game is not suspended seems crazy to me”, Xavi declared in the previous one, evidently annoyed by LaLiga’s decision not to postpone the duel, despite the difficult health situation in the Catalan team.

Barcelona (7th with 28 points) will visit Mallorca (15th with 20) this Sunday, January 2, from 3:00 pm (Peruvian time). ESPN will broadcast the meeting for all of Latin America.
